Workshop series: Music and Copyright Law
In 2017 and 2018, the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) organizes a workshop series in cooperation with the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) to discuss the most urgent issues around music and copyright law in the digital society.
The series is part of the ‘100 years of copyright’ programme of the HKW and aims to examine copyright law interdisciplinarily. The events address controversial topics such as the role of collecting societies, the classification of sampling as transformative art or copyright infringement, and issues around hosting- and streaming platforms and fair remuneration of authors. The aim of the workshop series is to create visions and reform ideas for a future music copyright that fulfils the demands of all stakeholders in the digital society. We invite an interdisciplinary group of experts such as musicians and producers as well as social scientists and lawyers to contribute their perspective.
Please note that the workshops are not open for public. If you are interested in joining an upcoming workshop, please get in touch with Jana Leusing for further details and registration.
