Lena Henkes

Lena Henkes is a researcher in the research programme “Knowledge and Society” and  project coordinator in the BMBF-funded research project “Acquisition logic as an obstacle to Diamond Open Access“. ELADOAH aims to develop an organisational model for a Diamond Open Access publication infrastructure in Germany.

Previously, she was a researcher in the research programme “The evolving digital society” and worked as deputy editor of the open access and peer-reviewed journal Internet Policy Review.

She holds a master’s degree in Political Science from Freie Universität Berlin and her master’s thesis focused on digital sovereignty in digital policy discourse in Germany. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies and Political Science at the University of Bremen.

Before joining HIIG, Lena gained professional experience at political foundations in Berlin and Brussels, in marketing as well as in an office of the German Bundestag with a focus on European policy.
