The Global Constitutionalism and the Internet research group can look back on a long as well as an eventful, insightful and successful history. It originated as one of the four founding research departments of the Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG) in Berlin, Germany, when the institute was organised along thematic topics into departamental lines. Global Constitutionalism and the Internet was however the most innovative, cross-cutting one of these research units. This chapter provides an overview of the history of the research group, its projects, activities and achievements, and the people who brought this group to life.
