In order to manufacture Internet connectivity, network operators around the globe make a joint effort. By the measure of existence, the Internet gives evidence of a remarkable degree of decentral coordination between networkers. But this evidence is vague. It does not tell us anything about the details of the social order that is at work at the core of the Internet. One approach towards understanding networker’s coordinative efforts is to lean on economic sociology and treat their efforts as matching parts to uncertainties that they are facing.
