In the ever-evolving realm of technology, where innovation drives societies forward, it is essential to examine the role of and challenges faced by women in the tech sector. This position paper centres on the multi-stakeholder dialogue held in Nouakchott, Mauritania, on 4 November 2023, addressing the pressing issue of the inclusion of women into the tech-sector. Focusing on the central question on how to create a more diverse tech sector, with a special attention on women in rural areas and refugee women from different countries in Africa, who face limited access to digital infrastructure, digital education, devices and skills, this position paper offers key strategies and measures that were developed in the dialogue to address these obstacles.
