The Normative Order of the Internet: Lunch Talk with Matthias C. Kettemann

Matthias C. Kettemann wird sein Konzept einer kohärenten normativen Ordnung des Internets vorstellen, welches sowohl internationales Recht, als auch nationales Recht und transnationale normative Abkommen einbezieht. Der Lunch Talk wird auf Englisch stattfinden.  

Matthias C. Kettemann will discuss and defend his concept of a coherent normative order of the Internet, that includes international law, national law, and transnational normative arrangements. He will show the impact and epistemic advantages of the approach by way of selected examples from recent Internet policy debates: disinformation campaigns, the Network Enforcement Act and the governance of freedom of expression by social networks. Towards the end, he will present a platform for cooperation between HIIG and HBI researchers.

Dr. Matthias C. Kettemann, LL.M. (Harvard) is Head of Research Program 2 (Regulatory Structures and the Emergence of Rules in Online Spaces) at the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI), Affiliated Researcher at the Cluster of Excellence „Normative Orders”, University of Frankfurt am Main and Lecturer at the Institute of International Law and International Relations, University of Graz, Austria.
