Lunch talk with Zara Rahman: Translating critical perspectives on technology to wider audiences

Technology and data are affecting many facets of every day life for billions of people around the world. In response to this, over the past years, academic and research communities have developed ways of thinking critically about technology and data. But who benefits from these findings, and this research? Beyond the academy, are there ways that we could increase the accessibility and relevance of our research in the real world, for real-world benefit?

Zara Rahman will talk about the importance of building bridges between civil society and researchers thinking critically about technology and data, informed by her year’s research as a fellow at the Data & Society Research Institute in New York City, and her professional background working with non profits to help them use technology and data more effectively, responsibly and strategically, most recently at international non-profit organisation The Engine Room.
